I was in a terrible relationship with someone I loved very much, someone I still love sometimes. But I understand he was an LVM, and I have no interest in him. In fact, I now despise him. It’s to the point where I feel a way that I have never truly felt before, in terms of my hatred toward him). I don’t know how I can move on...NOT because I can’t move on from him but because I can’t move on from what he did to me, how he treated me, and how he made me feel about myself and see myself. He ruined my soul.
When you look at dealing with resentment, a lot of it is apparently apologizing for my wrongdoings and taking ownership of what I did wrong in the relationship (absolutely not to him, just written down somewhere to put it out there). I am not saying that I am perfect, but I certainly am not the person I was before this relationship started. I guess that my conflict lies in the fact that part of the toxicity and abuse in my relationship was constantly apologizing even tho he was the problem. And now I’m supposed to apologize for things that are probably a result of him and how he treated me (reactions to constantly being put down and verbally and emotionally abused)? I don’t know anymore where I was right or where I was wrong. When I was mean to him, was it because he continued to berate me and I just couldn’t take it anymore, and I snapped? In that case, should I apologize for that? Again I just mean writing it down on a piece of paper, not actually working thru my resentment with him. But you see what I’m saying?! Lol I would really love some advice from you ladies. I’m trying to rid myself of the resentment I feel, or else I’m scared I’ll never recover (be secretly angry every single day with someone who doesn’t matter anymore, be confident, be happier, more accepting of love, less hard on myself, less afraid of love and people in general). How did you resolve your resentment?
