I've had a pretty shitty couple of years. I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Here we go...

My wife and I are high school sweethearts. Been married for 6 years, but we have been together for 14. We have two kids. Oldest is 7 next month, and the youngest is 2.

I was in the Army and got out at the end of 2019. I was working two jobs just to support my family. When COVID hit I lost both of my jobs. Then we lost our apartment. We had to move in with my dad which was a pretty big lifestyle change for all of us. My oldest daughter started Kindergarten while we were living there, but someone needed to be home with her to help her with her school work since it was all online. My wife had done the stay at home mom thing before, and it didn't suit her. I was used to working 70 hour weeks at this point, and honestly a break from work seemed pretty welcoming. So I offered to stay home with both kids so she could work full time.

This worked for a while, however there were a couple problems. The first being that with only one of us working we pretty much stayed in limbo at my dad's. It was next to impossible to save enough to move out. The next problem being that, after several months of staying at home, my already shaky mental health took a pretty deep dive. I ended up admitting myself to the VA mental hospital where I lived at the time, but I was treated so poorly there that I asked to be released after 72 hours. After that experience, we both agreed we needed to move so I wouldn't have to deal with the GA VA system anymore. So we put a plan together and decided to move to California.

We have been living with my wife's sister and her husband and kids until we could get out there and get on our feet. I was working with my brother in law, and again for a while things seemed to be finally straightening out. And because I honestly don't know what went wrong, I won't try to type another entire paragraph about it. But eventually it all went South.

When we moved to California I left my car in GA until I could come back a few months later to get it. Eventually out in CS we ended up in a position where the house needed one more car, so I made a plan to take a week off work to fly back to GA and get it to drive it back. As soon as I landed my wife texted me saying she was done.

That was 2 months ago. It's really messed me up. I get mixed signals from her. She said she's only filing a legal separation, so that eventually we can try to work on our relationship again, but that for now the kids have to be the number one priority (as far as getting them set up with everything they need in a new state across the country). I have no reason to believe anyone else is involved. One week she will text me like she wants to be friends, and nothing's wrong (something I'm not interested in), and then the next she ghosts me. I can barely even get info about the kids out of her. Luckily I have a pretty good relationship with her family, so i've started going through her sister or her husband to talk to them.

I just don't know what to do.
