I'm from the US. I didn't want to pay Ivy League fees so I looked at European schools. The school I set my target on requires 5 AP classes. My high school only allows 3 a year. I flew to Italy and waited outside the dean's office unannounced and asked for 5 minutes. I explained my story and cited several online businesses which would make up for the 2 missing AP classes.
He was very generous with his time and recommended an exception be made to admissions, but said he couldn't guarantee I'd be accepted. I was accepted to the university under a few conditions, mostly immigration requirements - no mention of APs.
Today I got an email from admissions saying they have received my AP scores, and that while I did satisfy the 3+ score requirement, I did not take 5 APs and therefore cannot be enrolled.
I replied informing them what I've outlined here. I'm hoping it's a low-level employee who didn't check with superiors. Due to time differences I should receive an email by tomorrow.
I've already made deposits for my apartment and made arrangements of a roommate, as well as denied offers from the one other school I applied to.
Assuming they refuse to honor their acceptance, should I...
- fly to Milan and arrange (or demand) a meeting with the top people at admissions?
- go anyways, say fuck college, and start some more business ventures?
- find some second-rate cheap college in the States that will accept me last minute and then transfer to a better school after a year or so
- stay in the US, find a mentor business owner, start working under his wing
For context I was planning to study International Finance and Economics at one of the top business schools in the world; now my plans might be foiled by bureaucracy and impractical academia.
