I was attacked in my sleep by a mentally unwell ex. She broke a plate on my head, clawed my back bloody and punched me over and over. After about minute if the attack I escaped and ran into the hall and down to the lobby of my building. In my underwear I borrowed the security guards phone. Called 911. Police showed up about 10 minutes later. I explained what happened, still in my underwear and bleeding in the lobby. They came upstairs with me. Explained I needed to find somewhere for me to stay for the night and that they would be civil standbys while I collected some belonging. I was the only name on the lease and proved it. Paid all of my bills and her bills. She was smoking pot when they came up. Admitted she did it and said I deserved it for ignoring her earlier that day.

They said, it's late and not safe for a woman to try and find a place to stay. Well there were 4 women's shelters within 5 miles and 0 for men. Fortunately I could afford a hotel...

Something I agree with female domestic violence victims about. I don't really care for statistics when my personal experience was that terrible. To this day I remain especially cautious when getting into arguments. I can get extremely fight or flight-y.

When I saw the title of that one, I thought she must have been half asleep and much larger than him...like maybe she jabbed him to get him to roll over and didn't know her own strength. It's hard to imagine someone being that brutal on purpose! That bitch must have been insane! I once had an abusive husband who left bruises on my neck when we were fighting and even he would not have done something to me while I was sleeping!

That thing about no job skills and being too old to have kids is a good point, except that they don't really fit together. If an able-bodied woman has no job skills, then it's likely because she was too busy raising kids and managing a household. (and who on earth wants more kids after a certain age?) If she has been a decent wife and mother, then she automatically has marketable skills. Her only worry should be whether she can make enough to support her kids. Since it's possible to get financial help from the government and usually child support as well, there's really not that much to worry about. As for being emotionally destroyed, I've met men who were just as easily damaged as any woman. Women do have some disadvantages, but most women in the free world aren't going to suffer that much from a break-up, especially if it means leaving a bad situation.
