Hello there! I quite literally discovered this subreddit less than a minute ago and it looks like the place for this topic, so let me know if it isn’t.

Okay so mansplaining. We all know the term and what it means. The thing I hate about it, is how it directs the attention from being a condescending asshole, to gender. I have an analogy that utilizes race.

A white man and a black man are neighbors. The black man has a bush that is growing over into the white man’s lawn. He comes over to the black man’s house and demands he trims it back.

The black man argues back and says if he wants it out of his yard, trim it himself. After some arguing, the white man uses the N-word.

Now, the argument isn’t about the bush. It’s about race and what the white man said. That’s how I feel about mansplaining. It’s taking the attention off the real issue and focusing on gender.

Anyways just my thoughts and I’d love to hear anyone else’s opinions.
