Most people here believe it's due to improved sex tech and the rise of individualism, but the reason why it will almost certainly happen is due to the inevitable invention of "reverse aging" technology.
Millennials and GenZ may not be able to benefit from this tech, but if people can live on average up to 300 years while retaining their youth, this will make the institution of marriage obsolete.
People nowadays struggle to stay married for 10+ years. can you imagine two people being committed to each other for 200 years? I think not.
My humble opinion is that the institution of marriage will gradually decline throughout the end of this century.
As we enter the 22nd century, I think transhumanism and cyborgs will star to emerge, and existing bio humans, whether you are a man or a woman, might become obsolete altogether.
Any thoughts?
