Feminists always argue that rape victims cannot report or that police will do anything about any crime but rape. This is not true. First of all, it is true that many women who get raped don't report it, but this is because most rape victims are raped by someone they know, making it very difficult to report. Stranger rapists are a minority of rapists, but they are more likely to be reported than rapists the victim knows. In fact, this explains why incarcerated rapists are disproportionately strangers to the victim. Some raped women are raped by a significant other or spouse. The closer the relaitonship between victim and offender, the lower likelihood of reporting. For example, according to Bureau of Justice Statistics, when the rapist was a significant other or spouse, 77% of the completed rapes, 77% of the attempted rapes and 75% of the sexual assaults weren't reported. When the rapist was a friend or acquaintance, 61% of completed rapes, 71% of attempted rapes, and 82% of sexual assaults were not reported. When the offender was a stranger, 54% of completed rapes, 44% of attempted rapes, and 34% of sexual assaults were not reported. So when a stranger rapes a woman, about half the time they were reported and when it was sexual assault but not rape, two-thirds of the time (a majority of the time), they were reported. If half of stranger rapists are reported, this is similar to how 52.1% of aggravated assaults are reported, 48.5% of household burglaries/tresspassings are reported, 46.6% of robberies are reported, and 37.9% of simple assaults are reported. Although the data found that only 33.9% of rapes are reported, it also found that just 30.0% of personal thefts/larcenies are reported and 26.8% of household thefts are reported. 79.5% of motor vehicle thefts are reported but the clearance rate is really low at 13.8%. This shows that when rape is a stranger crime and thus fits the stereotypical idea of a rapist, victims are more likely to acknowledge it as a rape, and because it's a stranger and not someone they know, they are more likely to feel like they'll be believed (the real reason people won't believe her is not just because of innocence until proven guilty but because if it's someone she knows and people think rapists are strangers, and many rapists are ordinary friendly guys we meet, then of course people won't believe her. It's due to ignorance about rape, not misogyny) and they are more likely to feel safe reporting the crime because the stranger isn't as likely to know they're being reported and therefore will be less likely to retaliate against the victim for reporting them. As a result, rape victims will be just as likely to report the crime as victims of other violent crimes.

And people also will complain that police don't care about rape victims because rapists don't get arrested. This is not due to misogyny, but because it's your word against them and a mere accusation isn't proof. Also, rape is hard to prove, and the reason the court system appears to go easy on rapists is because of due process, not misogyny or rape culture. Also, although it seems rapists get lenient sentences, this is because criminals in general get lenient sentences except homicide offenders. In fact, rapists receive harsher sentences than all other types of criminals except homicide offenders. Brock Turner is just an anomaly the media likes to emphasize. Although many rapes aren't cleared, this is true for many crimes in general. Also, we have a sex offender registry for rapists, and many can be on there for life, whereas other types of criminals don't need to be on a registry.

Clearance rate by crime 2019

Although aggravated assault and murder have higher clearance rates than rape, rape has higher clearance rates than robbery, larceny/theft, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. A fair amount of rapes get cleared even if it isn't that high, but it's relatively rare for burglaries, thefts/larcenies and motor vehicle thefts to get cleared. This is shown to be true consistently each year. Burglary, robbery, motor vehicle theft, theft/larceny and even arson all have lower clearance rates than rape, according to 2020 data. Even in 2004:

This is shown to be true even in 2004, with a good amount of rapes being reported in 2004, not a minuscule percentage.

And if you'll suggest robbery, burglary or motor vehicle theft are nothing as bad, just remember that burglary can be very psychologically damaging and so can robbery. Motor vehicle theft also can be very traumatic compared to other crimes, and many people might snicker at the idea of it traumatizing someone because they think it probably can't be that traumatic, and society's belief that it isn't traumatic exacerbates trauma for victims. Motor vehicle theft and carjackings can be as traumatic as warzone or natural disaster trauma. You can PTSD from it. These crimes are much more traumatic than your average catcalling, which feminists care so much about but society doesn't care about robbery/burglary/motor vehicle theft victims because men are more likely to be victims of these crimes.

Additionally, many rape victims don't acknowledge what happened to them as rape or are unsure if it was rape due to rape myth acceptance. This is called unacknowleged rape. This is similar to how the vast majority of rapists don't consider themselves rapists due to rape myth acceptance. Many times victims and rapists think a real rape is when you're sober and the rapist is a stranger. This could also be why many victims might not report. Many people think rapists are strangers in dark alleys when it's usually someone you know who rapes you in your house or their house or a friend's house. Feminists perpetuate this stranger danger myth with the "women are danger out at night" myth, even though studies show strangers usually target men, not women and children (child molesters/kidnappers also are usually someone the child knows). This is called unacknowledged rape. Unacknowledged robbery/burglary/theft/homicide doesn't exist. People will recognize those crimes for what it is, probably due to lack of myths about what those crimes typically are like because people cannot imagine rapists being someone we know and the idea that it has to be some stranger using excessive violence sounds more like something that comes in our head automatically when we think of something forcible or violent. The definition of robbery, burglary, homicide, etc. is much more clear. This also could be why rape victims don't report. They don't think they were raped or were unsure if it was rape. Unacknowledged rape victims are less likely to report a rapist.

TLDR

Suggesting that the police/criminal justice system don't take rape seriously but only take other crimes seriously is false. This is the evidence debunking this myth.
