Preamble :

Québec is the only Canadian province that doesn’t recognize common law marriage.

Common-law marriages, for those who don’t know, are a set of laws that dictates that a couple living together for a set amount of time is considered married by default, and without a prenup, specifically for the purpose of division of property, and alimony in case of a break-up.

Not only does Québec not have a common-law marriage law, it has a law that specifically states that you can’t ask for alimony unless actually married!

"One partner can’t ask for support payments from the other partner (financial support for one person in the couple who might need it)."

Well in came 2002, when a case involving Billionaire “Eric” and long term girlfriend “Lola” (Fictitious names to protect their identity, but from now on I’ll just call them Guy Laliberté, owner of Cirque du Soleil and Lola.) broke up.

Lola sued him for half of Cirque du Soleil and won twice in family court and then in the court of appeal.

Her lawyers argued that the lack of a common-law marriage law in Québec was unconstitutional.

In other words the court of appeal of Québec ruled in a woman’s favor based on a law that explicitly does not exist!!!

I need to make this clearer, feminist can bypass the electoral and legislative system to make up laws out of thin air in the middle of a trial and have superior court judges award them half of what you own based on these newly enacted laws!

Luckily for M. Laliberté, the Supreme court ruled in his favor.

But if it’s you, the normal man, who does not have Cirque du Soleil money to pay your lawyers all the way to the supreme court, well the feminist will force marry you and take half!

Forced marriage is considered by the U.N. to be a form slavery, but it’s ok when feminist do it, and they do it by law no less!
