Crosspost "Keep trying or give up?" from /r/nonmonogamy:
My partner (26m) has known from the start I (26f) want to be able to go outside the relationship, have wanted that before dating him. Lots of talks, a dead sex life (my libido not his) and now 3 years later and I still want this. We started talking about it again, and he just recently, with my encouragement, had his first hookup. I said I want him to think about after doing that if I could have the same privilege.
It has been years of me feeling this way, him knowing, not being able to hear it. Now it seems like we are at an impasse. He says he would much rather (happily) give that up no problem than offer me the same privilege. I love him, he’s my person, I don’t want to love anyone else but I need more.
We tried it, he tried it, and he can’t understand or cope or accept with the fact that I want more, especially picturing someone else giving me that type of attention/flirting, let alone kissing or anything else. Losing hope fast. I’m so fuckn sad. I feel like things are ending. Any ideas? All I want is a hookup here and there to boost my self esteem and get some excitement.
