Hey ladies! I just subscribed to this sub after lurking for a long time. I’m not really red pill but have mostly traditional values and agree with most of the posts that I see on here. I am a feminine woman who loves to dress up and I am just so sick of the hate that I’ve been getting for putting effort into my appearance!

For a little background I am living in the small town that I grew up in, along with many of the people who I went to high school with over a decade ago. Back in high school I was getting chunky and got bullied for it and so I got into an exercise routine and started eating healthier and I’ve managed to maintain this into my late 20s. I am in probably the best shape of my life, while the girls who bullied me in high school slowly gained over the years.

Now, whenever I go out and happen to see any of these women I feel like I am experiencing the high school shade all over again but in reverse. Now I am being judged for actually trying. This past weekend I was out for some drinks and not to brag but objectively speaking, I looked pretty good. A couple of women walked in, one of whom used to call me fat all the time in high school. I knew she had gained weight and didn’t really care, and she was wearing sweatpants and a sweater to cover up. I smiled and said hello, got a fake hello back, and as soon as they were seated the sideways looks in my direction and whispers began. I have a strong feeling that these notoriously catty women weren’t whispering compliments.

Why do I care? Well, I don’t honestly - at least not about them. It just got me thinking about body positivity in general and how toxic the movement is. These particular women post on Facebook all day long about how “every body is beautiful” and “wear what makes YOU feel beautiful” but snigger and sneer at a thin woman’s body because she had the audacity to show her arms off in a halter top and put in the effort to curl her hair for a night out in a small town. If someone behaved that way towards any of these women, they would be put on blast for being fatphobic.

Misery loves company. Based on what I’ve seen in the body positivity movement, most of these women don’t want you to love and celebrate your healthy body. They want you to gain weight and not do a thing about it so that they don’t have to feel as bad about themselves by comparison. It is not about accepting ALL bodies, it’s about dragging all bodies down to their level.

Don’t fall for it Queens.
