theres this thing called the personality ethic vs the character ethic. it has to do with psychology. people who believe in the personality ethic give weak, shallow advice like "just smile more" or "have a good posture" or, in this case "dont show attraction" as if those things will cause you to achieve all the success you want in life. news flash: those things never bring about lasting change. those who do personality ethic-type changes ultimately stay confused and insecure because they never know what's exactly "right" and are constantly wondering how to do that "one perfect thing" that will just magically open doors and fix everything. the personality ethic hinges on changing something in your personality and believing that that will magically lead to success.

the character ethic is about having fundamental core values, that when observed and held as important, all other things fall into place. in this example, "idgaf" is a core value of having confidence in yourself and not worrying/caring a ton about how strangers and namely unknown girls perceive you. stuff like idgaf works, and its what youre talking about by showing your attraction and not caring how youre perceived. obviously, theres still some nuance to showing attraction, because if you do it like a worthless beta youll come across like your putting pussy way up on the pedestal, but it sounds like youre aware of that caveat and arent at risk of doing some beta shit like that. the character ethic is about changing your character and having that lead to success, since you make better/different decisions and choices when you have strong character values that drive your decision making.

character ethic: good. personality ethic/quick-fix advice: will not lead to lasting change and growth. the personality ethic is like the "unicorn" of the bro-self-help advice world; it doesnt exist, but everyone chases after it anyways, thinking theyre just "one magic technique" away from success.

the concept comes from the book "the seven habits of highly effective people" by stephen covey. ive been considering doing a post on TRP about this concept and how it can drive so much positive change in so many areas of your life, but ive been pretty busy lately. the book is fantastic.
