His conclusions are absolutely nuts. - either just kill your troubled kids, (or watch them die) or further on in the article, just remove them from the society, lock them up, away from the rest of us (and drugs) where they can only hurt eachother.

But he's looking right at a really difficult problem, that doesn't have good options. (don't murder your kids! That's the worst of the bad options available, obviously, just to clarifying that I'm not agreeing with that)

If your caring for another person, and they are a danger to themselves or others, all your options suck. There are boarding schools for that sort of thing but... Well they are often bad like really bad

Theres a kind of helplessness that comes from loving someone that's self destructing. Or really in any situation where someone you love is hurting and there's stuff-all you can do about it.

I mean, serious stuff that might kill them, be it serious addictions or depression, stuff like that.

You can (and should) support them as much as possible, and it's not all hopeless, there are plenty of adults, doing OK, who were 'troubled teens'.

But you can also do your best and end up with a dead kid.

Broarder society is failing these kids (and their carers) and providing stuff all options for them.

Realistically even, ignoring it.and letting them spiral to whatever they do themselves is better than literally killing them but we need people who are smarter than him and smarter than me not ignoring, working on solutions and help for them.
