We men are just human beings. We are not cold, calculating automatons or unfeeling psychopaths. We can’t help but be insecure like anyone else. Yes, I’m insecure about some things like any other human being, fvcking sue me.

When I say insecure, I don’t mean a man who cannot function as an adult. I mean, fvck man, if I’m insecure about not being tall or rich or whatever, I’m not gonna shove my insecurities in your face or have it affect our relationship, but I’m allowed to have my weaknesses. Especially when a lot of these insecurities come from society (and WOMEN) lauding traits that most/many of us don’t have, whether that be 6 figure income, 6 ft tall, 6 pack abs, 6 inches, not bald, or what have you and then basically implying we’re inferior specimens for not having these.

What irks me most is that, anecdotally for me at least, most women I’ve met have had A LOT of insecurities (even more than men I’d wager). Yet we are expected to accept them with their insecurities and all, and I for one will gladly do because they are humans and it’s ok (given it doesn’t negatively affect my life or the relationship). But it’s just another one of those double standards, we are supposed to be “confident” (in the sense that we have no insecurities or overcame them but women can be as insecure as they please.

I’ve dated women who were dripping in insecurities, women who can’t even bother asking for a refund when a restaurant forgets to give them that extra option they ordered because “it’s uncomfortable” and “what will people think”, yet the moment I felt comfortable enough with these girls and (as I’ve learned over time) made the mistake of being vulnerable and revealed one of my insecurities, all of a sudden it’s unacceptable and sometimes they don’t see me the same anymore. It’s actually really disgusting how that happens and basically you can’t be vulnerable as a man. And then you fvcking wonder why we don’t express our emotions. It’s not just “the patriarchy” or gender norms, we learn not to be vulnerable because of the reactions we see from women whom we reveal a moment of vulnerability to.

End of rant, just had to get it off my chest.
