Hey fellas, over the years, have you seen changes in your father?

Since I started living out of town for post-secondary education, I've started to notice some changes in mine. The 50's bar seems to have hit quite hard, and I feel like I'm starting to seeing him slowly decline, not only in health, but overall vitality, happiness and frame.

It hurts me to say so, but I think my father has several beta qualities:

  • He's really selfless, and is well perceived by his peers at work. Even though spending tons of time working his ass off, he's been providing me with all resources and knowledge to help me go through school so I get to do what I want in life later.

  • He's always been overweight, has very little knowledge of gym (and does not want to go), spends most of time at work and consumes lots of TV when back home.

From my perspective as their son in his twenties, my parents' morale has been declining. I believe reasons for that include (although not limited to) the following:

  • He can't play sports anymore due to injury;

  • He sold his company 3 years ago (and is working under the new boss).

I told my mother I noticed it, and she told me that she yearns for a change, that she supports him, and that she hopes for the best when he finally decides to cut ties with the company and recovers from his injuries. During this time, with what I learned on TRP, I fear the clock is ticking.

It's not the first time, but tonight we spent 30 minutes on the phone, and I was listening to him venting about people leaving the company, about how work tires him; yatta-yatta.

I'm worried af. I want to help him so bad, but feel powerless at the same time. What should I do?

Thank you so much in advance, it means more than any hoes could mean to me.
