I have been following DV statistics for a long time and always come away thinking there is no reason to discriminate by sex. Women and men can both do horrible things. Who cares if the difference is 60/40 or 70/30? The only thing that would make it an exclusively female thing is if it was a recessive allele on the X chromosome. Then the perpetrator of abductions would always have that genetic configuration. But that is not the case. Behavior is not the same as genetics although behavior may be colored by our genetic disposition Behavior is produced through the interaction with the environment. The sociopolitical environment we live in provides a context for self-evaluation so the content of our sociopolitical environment is important to the production of our behavior. Thus it is predictable that if you give any class of people the political context to commit abuse there is a greater chance that they will. The increase in abductions by women is probably a feature of the culture of liberal feminism.
Another feature of this culture is the percolation of a victim mindset. Women are able to evaluate themselves within the social context of victimization and receive companionship and affirmation from others. A moderate approach to this would be to focus on repairing the person's damaged ego through constructive rebuilding, but more often than not a bunch of broken people coalesce to create a menace to society. Because they are broken in exactly the same way they re-affirm each others suffering and dwell in perpetual self-pity. The world is not nearly as scarey as they perceive and so also dwell in habitual fear. Unfortunately shit happens in life and most of us have to go through some pretty screwed up stuff, having a support group can help you out of it or it can make you a sociopath by a culturally induced self-victimization that you project all blame away from yourself including your own actions. You become a puppet controlled not by other people but by your own fear and conditioning. A healthy culture should not reinforce habitual states of fear and distrust. There are much better ways to deal with life's challenges. The culture of fear causes women to think that their own fears are caused by the men in their lives. They are taught to look for evidence of violent tendencies, cheating and general dishonesty. They are taught to be skeptical, distant and secretive. This is all under the guise of self-protection. The more consumed by ourselves we become the more we project the cause of our actions onto external things.
I think we've all put off doing things for half-ass reasons when the real reason was just that we didn't feel like it. When confronted with the subjective consideration of doing what we should have we used our cognition to create a fantasy that justified how we felt. Fear, laziness, pride, etc.. these things actually alter the way we think. The way we categorize problems and attribute causality. That is why researchers use double-blind conditions in their experiments, because subtle as it is, an expectation alone can bias the results of the experiment. Not because reality conforms to the expectation but because the researcher's own mental faculty conspires to portray it as such.
The toxicity of our culture and sub-cultures lies in the way the mind works and I sincerely think this is where we need to focus our attention. We too often project blame onto things other than ourselves when quite often the identities we are trying so hard to protect are not helping us very much. A lot of these identities such as victim of domestic abuse are internationally shared identities. This makes them extremely persuasive. The moment I side with that identity I start thinking in ways that justify my decision. The identity becomes more and more descriptive of who I am. I don't believe in victims of domestic violence, I believe people experience trauma from various life circumstances and they have different ways of coping with said trauma. One way is to grow from it and move on, the other way is to be consumed by it.
The law has infringed too much on our autonomy. Now it has become illegal to offend people and to persuade/convince "coerce" them. This is the irony of the way feminism has become manifest in pop culture. So much of what we see on MensRights is a sign that women are no longer in control of their own lives. They are supposed to be demanding personal freedom but they perpetually look outside themselves for the causes of their own decisions. Unfortunately when you are the target of blame it is nearly impossible to convince your accuser they are horribly misguided. All we can do is make sure that we set a good example ourselves and not allow their delusions to affect us. No one is to blame for anyone's fear but their own. In my experience the more I was afraid the more I had to be afraid of, because I would put myself into situations where I was at threat. I did that because I wasn't taking responsibility for my own decisions, I was allowing myself to be controlled by fleeting emotional perturbations.
