I don't know how many of you have already seen this, but after reading through the comments, I don't really understand why some people like it so much.
Okay. I get it. Labels are bad. I agree. But I legitimately don't get the labels used in this commercial. I don't automatically think "oh, hard working female! MUST BE A SELFISH BITCH OF COURSE!" Like... do other people think that?? I'm all for equality, but it just seems to highlight an issue that, for the most part, isn't there. Plus, if this had been a commercial for men (where the guy was a stay at home dad or something), I don't think it would be even half as popular... and that's [probably] a more existent issue.
I guess it's just sad. Everywhere I go on Reddit, I'm scared to identify myself as an MRA because people just automatically wipe away your credibility. Everything you say becomes bullshit to them. It doesn't matter how well you conduct yourself or source your shit. For a long time, that kept me away from this subreddit... until I realized that, unfortunately, this is actually the way the world is. There's barely anybody reasonable around.
The older I get and the more relationships I see, the more I start to realize that love and marriage aren't too great anymore. I just cringe when I think about giving somebody that much control over me. What if I get depressed and lose my sex drive? What if I stumble and can't make you happy? What if, since I'm human and all, I can't treat you like a princess all the time? I don't want to have kids only to lose them forever. I don't want someone to do a 180-degree turn on me just because I'm not perfect. It just seems like the standard is the husband is supposed to go out of his way to make the girl happy, when boys like to know they are good-looking and appreciated just like women do. I know there are some great girls out there that understand that... I'm just not confident that there are very many anymore. Once people as a whole start accepting bullshit, cognitive dissonance always plays its role. Shit.
Welp, that was therapeutic. Hope it wasn't complete word vomit
