Not surprising. Men and women look at competition differently. An attractive male is also attractive (non-sexually) to other men, because he is likely successful, has resources, and has specialized skills. He is a good person to become friends or allies with. So there are conflicting interests, on one hand you want to eliminate the competition for women, but on the other hand you want to gain other non-sexual value by befriending the other guy. Another factor in the decision is fear. Attractive men are typically healthy men in good shape. If you are viewed as unjustifiably offensive, there could be retaliation.

An attractive woman, on the other hand, tends to be younger, and therefore less experienced and less skilled. What value does a 20 year old girl offer to a 30 year old woman? The 20 year old girl is simply viewed as competition. And the attractive 20 year old girl is likely very feminine and less physically imposing, so the 30 year old woman does not fear retaliation. Guys feel jealousy, but among adult men, you rarely see it manifest in the same way as when women feel jealousy. Women are vicious towards each other.

I suspect it is also the reason why feminists complain that the "boy's club" exists. A 30-35 year old man is typically very willing to take a 20 year old male intern under his wing. The man is higher status, as he is wealthier and established, so he doesn't feel threatened, and he wants to extend his network because in a few years the kid will be very capable. On the other hand, a 30-35 year old woman is very cautious about bringing a 20 year old female intern into her social circle.
