Hey Mensrights, first time in this subreddit tbh, sent over by someone that saw my story on another post and said you might be interested.

So, i live in London, UK. My uncle, used to be a janitor/handyman/busybody for a school in London. One of the major perks of this job for him was that he was given a house that was just off the main school. Quite a big house, nice rooms, big garden.

So, he did this for 14 years, raised all 3 of his kids in this house, i remember going to birthdays, Christmas, christenings at his just because of how big the house was and the size of our family.

So, after 14 years of hard work and labour, he woke up one morning to find the police kicking down his door (I work for the police, so no problem with them doing their job) and arresting him on 2 charges of rape.

So, the ins and outs is this. The night previous to this, he had been doing his rounds per usual, he came across 2 young girls (13 and 14) throwing rocks at the windows, he stopped them and told them he would be informing the headteacher.

Turns out, these girls were a bit annoyed at that, went home and told their parents that my uncle had abused them after school.

So, what followed was thus. My uncle was arrested, detained for 2 weeks and then released on bail pending a court case, he then returned to his work to be told that he had been fired due to the accusations and was given 3 days to move out of the house as they needed it for the person who would be taking over.

3 days. To move 14 years worth of a life out of a house, 3 kids, a wife, a dog called puff. They had nowhere to go, how could they on such short notice?

So, anyway, what started as a long court case, 2 months later, the day BEFORE he was due to go on the stand and defend himself, the girls came forward and admitted they had made the whole thing up because he "Annoyed them".

So what happened then? Well, obviously, the police let him go, apologized for the whole thing. He went back to the school and tried to get his job back. The board of directors and the parents union decided that because of the accusations, they couldn't trust him round their kids anymore.

Someone, who has worked their for FOURTEEN YEARS, no trouble, no problems, until 2 girls make up a pack of lies. Then the people he had come to known over 14 years decide to say that they still suspect him of being a kiddy fiddler. Just because 2 immature girls decided to make something up.

So he started looking for more work, every job he got in a 2 year period, sacked him after checking his record after seeing an arrest for the stuff. Since this incident, probably 10 years ago, he has found it extremely difficult to get any work, He's said that people he once knew now look down at him just because of the accusations.

The 2 girls got a slap on the wrist, he was told it was just "Kids being kids" and after going through a solicitor, was told he would not be successful suing them for libel due to them being kids and not "Properly knowing the implications of the accusation".

I honestly dont know, why, in this day and age, people have this phobia of men working around young kids. My uncle did nothing wrong, at all. Yet he is still vilified and people "consider" him a pedophile just because of a pack of lies.

Has anyone else ever had trouble with this sort of stuff? Or is this just a one off case :/ I'd be quite curious to know if anyone else has had to deal with this.
