When I first found this subreddit, it was a breath of fresh air. I saw a lot of misinformation coming from feminist sources and here was a group of men who scrutinized that data and identified a clear and present bias.
The problem I slowly realized that (not entire unlike my jaunt through /r/seduction as we) this path does not lead to a resolution, just more paths. Men's Rights mostly counter points an extreme feminist view point... which is great right now in helping to keep a rational perspective.. but offers little to nothing for tomorrow.
My tendency today is to believe that Feminism freed the modern woman and left her in a state where, by and large, she is confused and does not know what will make her happy. We broke generations of traditional upbringing with Feminism, the role and expectations of women utterly changed.
We all know that Feminism has yet to make any meaningful stand for any male issue in the history of forever. And that's fine...
I've supported Men's Rights for a bit. I helped put together, consolidate, and share stats an information. At this point, I feel like this approach is as fruitless as Feminism (in the US, that is) is becoming.
I find myself drawn more and more to another way of thinking.
I believe in supporting everyone around me. I believe in helping everyone become the best that they can be and enjoy their experience of life as deeply and meaningfully as possible. There's no more effective way for all of us to enjoy life than if we help each other do it.
And I think Men need to remember to extend this to women... What offends us is a modern angry woman who blames men for her unhappiness. To turn around and then blame women for our unhappiness creates a deadlock.
We're men, let's be men... Men work to fix things... I just made my first gender based generalization of this post.. do you not agree? By and large, I have always felt that men are driven to create change and that this is one of many beautiful aspects of our gender. And I think we can do a lot of good with modern gender problems.
I'm not telling anyone here to stop and I'm not sure if anyone wants to read something this long... but I wanted to share my journey in case I'm not alone.
I want to define, within myself, a model of masculinity that maintains healthy boundaries, that refuses to accept blame for anything I am not guilty of, yet constantly and consistently maintains an attitude of love and support for the opposite gender.
If this were a "movement" it would indeed be a MENs movement. However, it would be void of blame. It would be an earnest look into the attributes of virility and how we can self-realize ourselves into a state where we not only help each other as men, but show these angry feminist bitches that we love them and we're here to support them and no matter how much of a fit they throw, we're still going to continue to fight for their rights.
And maybe.. in a generation or two of loving and showing our support in every way we can... they'll cool off a bit and maybe even take a hint from our lead.
It's often really hard for any of us to understand why we get so angry. It's easy to point out when someone else's anger seems unjustified... but all so often, it's just that they don't actually know for themselves why they're angry.
So... let's make the whole world a safe place.
I'm sorry for the sloppy explanation, but this vision of being a supportive man has really been inspiring lately and I'm hoping to refine my dialog around this so I can more easily tell other men what I'm feeling and hopefully find others who feel the same.
All the best, guys... and I appreciate any feedback and comments..
