What does this say about society? It says that you're making the wrong comparison, as those married women with children who are the primary earners is a much more specific and higher-earning demographic than just women in general.

The questioner implies that the benefits to society of specialism (ie the correct answer to her question about why single mothers are poorer than she thinks they should be) should be subordinated to her notion of equality - but she doesn't notice that she only applies her notion of equality to the productive spheres of human endeavour, and not to the reproductive spheres.
