Whenever I’m put in a social setting, it takes me a little bit to “get in the zone” socially. For example, I’m a waiter at a restaurant. My first table or two, I’m not confident, I stumble over words, and my mind isn’t there. After the first hour of my shift, I’m good to go, confident, and making the table laugh and at ease.
This also happens in other social settings like school and social functions. The first 30 min- hour I feel awkward and out of place but eventually I get in the zone.
Is there any way to get in the zone faster or mental cues/techniques to master this?
