Spiked claims that yesterday's Golden Globes were a wake for feminism. Here's hoping they've got it right.

Everyone should check out the video of Natalia Portman attacking the men nominated for best director. Symbolically, she is using men as the proxy in a Munchausen by proxy display.

The paradox of female power is that it derives from the illusion of weakness (plus sexual power, of course), combined with any potential threat to them by males. So there is a strong temptation for women to exploit the male protective instinct by playing damsel in distress/victim. You could even call this "toxic femininity." At the extreme end is actual Munchausen syndrome (feigning illness for sympathy) and Munchausen by proxy (hurting one's own child in order to engender sympathy).

Damselling is the female equivalent of men who would use their superior physical strength to abuse a woman.

The practice (better called an artform at this point) of damselling doesn't work quite so well when the women in question are multi-millionaire spoiled brats like Natalia Portman. And it's really just appalling that Portman is denigrating her male colleagues as though there is some some sort of conspiracy against female directors. What a colossal twat.

One of the things I've noticed is that sexy female celebrities (especially those who end up single) tend to get more and more spiteful toward men as they grow older and their beauty wanes. There is no such thing as "growing old gracefully" anymore. They seem to think that they should be appreciated for their great "talent" when the main reason they became famous in the first place was due to their physical appearance (and, apparently, willingness to bang ugly producers). There are plenty of exceptions, of course -- women like Tilda Swinton for example. And nepotism is also very important in Hollywood.

The reason why most great directors are male is pretty simple. Men are more likely to sacrifice quality of life for the obsessive pursuit of greatness. Why? Well, in part, because women are hypergamous and demand what they consider high quality men. It's almost unbelievable that sociologists fail to even address this obvious factor in analyzing gender disparity at the top of a given field. Another factor is IQ. People at the extreme high end of the bell curve are almost all men. So of course the top levels of mathematics will have a preponderance of males.

My heart bled for all those poor, super rich wamen in their sexy black gowns. Imagine the horror of having to go through life with a private chef, multiple vacation homes, only ten or so servants, monthly trips around the world on private jets, and fawning adoration from millions of fans.

I was especially moved by the woman wearing a "poverty is sexist" T-shirt no-doubt manufactured by a female sweat shop worker in Bangladesh (homeless men, who make the majority of rough sleepers, must also have been extremely moved if they got a glimpse of a TV through a window); and billionaire Oprah Winfrey's appeal to universal female victimhood.

Finally, there was Natalie Portman's stunning and brave condemnation of the male "best director" nominees for having an insufficient quantity of vagina.

This will go down as one of the most inspiring and courageous civil rights actions in history -- right up with the tens of thousands of men who were maimed and murdered establishing labor union rights, the people killed in Tiananmen square, and the people who risked lynching by the Klan to end segregation. Granted, those comparatively minor civil rights actions pale in comparison to whining ten years too late about sucking a fat guy's dick in exchange for frame and fortune. It's not like any of these women had the financial independence and media access to speak out about their alleged abuse many years ago so their "sisters" wouldn't undergo the same thing. Not even poor Salma Hayek, who has a net work of $7 billion dollars.

Sarcasm aside, I'm not one of these people who think famous people should never speak about politics. They're tax payers and voters like everyone else and if they want to speak their mind, go right ahead. It would nice, however, if they had some sense of proportion. Like, they could recognize that when you are more privileged than 99.999 percent of the human population, "woah me I'm such a poor wittle victim" is not the best look. At least the male celebrities have the basic sense and decency to recognize that they are not oppressed.

The other issue is popularity. Speaking out for justice is a fine and noble thing, but it doesn't require any courage to get up on your high horse about a fashionable cause. Perhaps the Hollywood wamen should have worn all black to signify the death and carnage wrought by one of Obama's seven wars while he was in office. I guess it's not quite as sexy to talk about little kids getting killed in drone strikes or CIA destabilization operations -- especially when the culprit is a Democrat.

If we're going to focus on what is going on in Hollywood itself, perhaps they could have worn all black to protest the institutional abuse of boys in Hollywood revealed by the documentary An Open Secret, released several years ago to deafening silence. But that would have required real courage, not damselling and virtue signaling and asking for more money.

It's pretty amazing to me that more women don't feel just utterly disgusted at what went on last night. I reckon that most working class women were too busy working to give a shit.

This has to be the worst Golden Globes EVER, not a fan of award shows, but aren't they supposed to entertaining?
