Religions used to be affective because the ethical nature of given religions were societally and communally enforced with steep reprecussions.

Now in Western society, at least in the US community has been replaced by consumerism. It no longer exists in it's potent form so women can behave on their urges without personal consequences. At least reputationally which is a major incentive that encourages women to do or avoid certain behaviors.

While looking at the instability that polygamy causes in society long term , one only has to look at the Muslim world. Since women become scarce under polygamy, poor families must horde and protect their female offspring , what results is inbreeding and this leads to genetic issues and low iq,. Low iq results in the society losing out and becoming a shit hole.
