You should watch the documentary Martyrs of Marriage on Netflix. Eye opening about abuse of legal system against men by women and their families, as well as the unreasonable, hateful nature of feminism in India. Disturbing.

The same NCRB data shows that 87% of the cases under 498A end in acquittal and even under the rape law 50% end with acquittal[https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-38796457 + NCRB stats]. Untill the recent amendment the law was harsh to say the least. It was possible to arrest the parents of groom and groom with just the FIR filed by the bride(It was meant to protect the bride from further harassment of in-laws.). I do not think that the amendment was accepted as they wanted to save men, rather was to save the face from the shameful data.
