I have a buddy I've known for a while now. We were close enough at one point that we'd call each other brother. Always there for each other type of friendship. A few months ago, another guy I work with joined our social circle. Over time, I began to strongly dislike him as I saw him as a bad influence on me. I have many examples of this, but a few are:
-He'd build himself up to be better than he was in every way, but would point out my flaws whenever there was an opportunity
-He'd encourage me to drink when I didn't feel like it, smoke, vape, dip, eat shitty food, etc
-He'd talk shit/give false info about me behind my back
Your typical narcissistic crab in a bucket. This built up over time & I'd deal with it until it reached the boiling point. Told him "I don't fuck with you anymore" & left one day. Haven't spoken a word to him since. Since then my close friend would continue to invite me to shit on weekends, but he'd also invite my coworker. He knows I won't show up if the coworker's there. I haven't seen or talked to him in weeks now, yet they're together every weekend.
I don't have any interest in being around my buddy or our social circle. I feel like a stranger at this point. Like a 3rd wheel who gets a courtesy invite. If our longstanding friendship meant anything, I'd assume he'd at least take a day out to hang out with me. Am I reacting like a bitch here?
