I don't know if this will be allowed here but I find the irony worth a look. Did anybody see the crucible?

My point is there was a time in history when young twenty something women and middle aged men ganged up on middle aged women and old ladies. Being an unmarried woman over thirty was especially damning.

It was Salem in 1692

Some people probably wanted to rid the town of bag ladies and "crazy people", but some were doctors and wanted to get their mid wife competition out of the way.

I don't doubt ridding one's self of the aging wife for a younger mistress may have fueled some of the inquisitions.
