I really dont trust the Indian authorities enough to believe this is real. I have family in India and they tell me rape is very common and that its often larger groups of men who rape a girl. If the men are from a higher class than the girl the police wont value her life as high as the mens and wont procecute

Hah, no. Unfortunately, most likely, this is true. People who are falsely claiming rape are so common nowadays, they're overshadowing people who are actually facing sexual assault. And they get popular, and they don't get any type of consequence. So other people think they can do the same, and the cycle repeats. So no, most likely, this isn't false.
