On Wednesday, a video presented by a well-known German feminist was released. It's in Germany language, but they made English subtitles which seem pretty good.
In summary, it is about forms of sexual aggression by men that women face today, from dick pics to mean YouTube comments, direct sexual insults, and eventually sexual assault.
It is probably true that it is hard for men to imagine what it's like to be a woman, and that most of them are not aware of their everyday struggles. I am definitely not trying to minimize that. However, I do find the entire concept pretty offensive.
First of all, why did they have to call it "Men's Worlds"? Probably due to the dick pics, yes, I get that. However, isn't their intention to portray the struggles of women? By choosing that title, they are immediately focusing on men as perpetrators, as if this kind of behavior was part of our nature. Sure, violence by men against women does happen, is that any news? But do you really have to use every opportunity to perpetuate that "evil men, poor women" narrative?
Maybe male victims are rarer, I don't know. But if they had really tried, I am sure they would have found someone to make the picture a little more balanced. And I know first-hand that women sometimes misbehave, too. But any time someone brings that up, the response is: "Stop the whataboutism. You're only trying to minimize the actual problem".
OK, it's just a video, you may say. But now even our government (which is not even particularly left-wing) is heavily praising it. Our "minister for women's and family affairs" said that "any action" in that direction is a good thing.
