FYI, sexist use of imputation against fathers, combined with the sexist refusal to impute or properly calculate the income of mothers, particularly non-custodial mothers who owe child support, is likely a violation of federal law.

The law requires:

"(2) Expedited administrative and judicial procedures (including the procedures specified in subsection..for establishing, modifying, and enforcing support obligations."

Every state has them. These written procedures are generally not sex specific, and must be followed unless a court orders otherwise.

If two or more people, such as those at a federally funded Title IV-D child support agency, conspire to impute income to fathers only, especially in a way which is deceptive or unfair, this may be a felony:

Two years ago, the US Department of Justice issued a Dear Colleague letter regarding "basic Constitutional principles" and ordering a end to debtors' prisons.

If you feel a father's income is unfairly imputed such that he can't reasonably pay what is ordered, and is later imprisoned based on a potentially fraudulent misuse of your state's child support formula, consult with a lawyer.

"Courts shouldn’t incarcerate a person for nonpayment without first determining whether the person is indigent and whether the failure to pay is willful."

Please note child support is often calculated with the help of a computer. This computer may be misused to confuse or deceive the victim of fraud that the child support was calculated correctly. Such misuse may be a felony.
