Early in the piece the writer calls out some statements made by officials in the Australian government.

Attorney-General Hennessy explicitly stated: ‘We’re determined to break the cycle of family violence in the community. That means making sure women experiencing family violence are supported.’ Ms Hennessy has also stated: ‘We all have a role to play in this and that’s why I’m asking all Victorians to come together and say that violence against women won’t be tolerated’.

Now these are entirely typical 'violence against women' type feminist policy statements, tightly gendered, focused very specifically on violence against women. However, these statements, and typical feminist rhetoric in general does not actually deny the existence of male victims as the author goes on to suggest.

Note that she expresses no concern for men also being the victims of domestic violence. Her one-sided statement implicitly suggests that men are the sole culprits in every instance of domestic violence.

I think just a moments reflection will show that the true feminist position on male victims of domestic violence is 'Yes they exist, but there are not enough of them, they all deserved what they got and they deserve a lot more of it, violence against men is fully justified and something that should be encouraged. Men are the proper targets of violence and we just want to make sure that all victims of violence in the home are male.'
