First of all it's not easy for me to approach women whether in person or online through matchmaking websites. I'm naturally shy and get nervous easily about screwing up or appearing awkward.

The few times I do muster up the courage, I get consistently rejected. Fortunately I have good looks so I can leverage those for a strong opener and the girl shows genuine interest back. But then after we talk anywhere from a few minutes to an hour I eventually say something that sets off one her flags, and then she turns cold and the whole thing is over.

I'm quite frustrated because I feel like I get so close every time, and but I just can't close. I can't count how many times I could have gotten happily laid if I had just done one little thing differently. Sometimes I know what that one thing is, and other times it's ambiguous leaving me wracking my brain trying to figure out what I did wrong.

Is it normal to face such a high rate of rejection? Do you really just have to apply yourself to 100s of women before you get that one yes? I've gotten many yes's before but its exhausting having to apply to so many, invest so much time and effort, just to be burned at the end. What I regret most is the time investment. But then if I try to "accelerate" the process she says I'm moving too fast and also goes cold. So it seems like there's no way to win.

I also tend to take every rejection personally and it usually leads me to a depressive spiral that lasts anywhere from a day to a week.

What's even more baffling is that certain lines that might ellicit a positive response from one woman will ellicit a negative response from another. Women are inconsistently. Some want you to be aggressive, others want you to be passive. Some want you to move fast, others want to move slow. It's extremely difficult to read a woman and tell what her specific buttons are, until after they've been pressed and it's too late.
