Bonnie Rohn, 36, of Hellertown was sentenced to a year in county jail and probation on Friday after she admitted to grooming and molesting a teenage boy in her care.

Investigators say Rohn admitted to molesting the boy who they described as small in stature, 5’3” and weighing just over 100 pounds, at her Hellertown home while her children were just rooms away.

Rohn told the teen not tell anyone about what had happened.

At her sentencing hearing, Rohn told the judge she is ashamed and disgusted of the things she's done and said she has changed since attending extensive inpatient and outpatient rehab for sex addiction and substance abuse. The teenage victim's aunt told the judge that he has struggled since being abused and has gotten in trouble with the law.

Northampton County district Attorney John Morganelli called Rohn’s sentence "woefully inadequate” and said his office will file an appeal. Prosecutors asked for Bonnie Rohn to be sentenced to state prison where she could get the sex offender and substance abuse treatment she needs.

"I don't think it fits the crime of what actually happened here. We had a very innocent 14-year-old boy who was very vulnerable become prey for this woman's sexual desires…Sometimes society as a whole looks at these cases somewhat differently. They should not. We have victimization of young girls and victimization of young boys. It really doesn't matter if the perpetrator is a female or male,” Morganelli said.

Morganelli said his office will be filing an appeal.
