In India a few years ago, they tabled legislation for workplace sexual harassment. the language was gender-neutral. The Indian feminists were outraged, and insisted that it 'protect women'. The language was changed and men were excluded from protection under the law.

My guess is this unilateral protection under the law may have been a systemic factor that contributed to this woman being emboldened to make a false accusation.
