Depression is actually more of a long-term condition (even nonchronic depression can only be diagnosed as depression if it persists for a certain timeframe) and even if this wasn't the case it's not the only cause of suicide. A person could be driven to suicide by anything from high levels of stress/anxiety, guilt, etc. For instance, in Japan ritual suicides to redeem your tarnished honor or show your opposition for the actions of someone above your station were fairly common for a few hundred years up until World War II.

Another reason why is because Western culture insists that all men need to be stoic and therefore should never be sad, stressed, miserable, etc, all of which are warning signs of either depression or other conditions that may cause someone to commit suicide. This means that, not only are men often more successful at committing suicide than women, but men are also less likely to be diagnosed with conditions that make them at risk for suicide or have someone correctly identify and properly address warning signs of suicidal thoughts.

Your question would have received more responses if you used it as the title of your post.

Although this is a good post, the title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable. Moreover, it means that your post will fail to reach some readers because they won't know what it's about.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

Because men don't ask for specialized help.And they don't ask myself included because we don't trust the system.Any time men asked help they were blamed.

Nowadays even more as masculinity was labeled as a disease.
