Requests for and offers of sexual favors by female customers are also reported by the strippers. Reporting that receiving propositions is part of the nature of the business, one stripper explained. They see you half naked, and some think about getting [you] in bed; Others, however, point out the implicit expectations of some customers of paying for the services of the men. One of the dancers related the following anecdote: [One woman] asked me how much I cost. I said, ’I don’t even know your name.’ She said, ’You don’t need to know my name, you just need to know my game.’ She then proceeded to proposition him.

Performers who report having accepted propositions describe engaging in a variety of activities including threesomes, sadism-masochism, serving as an escort on out-oftown trips, and other more ordinary activities.

On the other hand, the strippers viewed the frequent excesses of the patrons with surprise and disgust, describing customers who participate in excessive behavior withsuch adjectives as : aggressive, crazy, dangerous, wild, and dirty. Verbal and physical abuse were the forms of patron excesses most frequently observed by the authors and reported by the strippers. Frequently this included name calling and insults concerning dancers’ physical attributes as examples of verbal abuse on the part of the patrons. As one dancer reported. Some women are really sarcastic and heckle you. Some of them can be real nasty and say things that are rude and shouldn’t be said.&dquo; In terms of physical abuse, we observed several instances of excess, including women pinching the men and scratching and clawing at the dancers’ bare skin. On one occasion a woman was seen placing a lit cigarette against a stripper’s buttocks. In addition, several strippers mentioned receiving abuses such as needles in the rear end and bites on the butt. In the words of one, &dquo;I had a bruise on my butt for two weeks because some girl opens [sic] her mouth and put her chompers on my rear end. One customer employed this form of aggression so enthusiastically that the stripper was forced to go to the hospital for a shot. Finally, strippers were observed becoming involved in hostilities with customers and being drawn into fights between customers.

Another form of customer excess observed by the authors was lewd behavior, the most common forms of which involved pulling G-strings off the dancers and getting on stage and making suggestive overtures to the dancers. A more esoteric example of lewd behavior is reported by one stripper who said: [One woman] got on the stage with me and laid down. She [opened her legs and] had on this underwear with no center [in it].&dquo; Another stripper related that he was quite surprised when a customer asked him to 'Sit on my face'. A third stripper, in reporting his surprises concerning the job itself, noted: '... how wild women can be. I always put women on a pedestal'. They get down and they get dirty.

Male strippers, as a result of the gender role transcendence encouraged for women at the club, often feel that the female patrons objectify and exploit them. [....] Another oneof the dancers admitted that he felt degraded as a result of his participation in parts of the performance: 'I don’t like to tabletop. It’s the most degrading part of the show, nine girls rubbing you [at once]. I feel like I’m on the auction block.... You know how a woman would feel.' Summarizing the shared feeling of exploitation among the dancers, one respondent remarked: 'It’s funny how women say men only want them for sex objects and then they turn around and do the same thing to men. Everyone wants rights, but they don’t give them to anyone else.'

This study is from 1982. Here a study on male stripper from 2012, and sadly not much changed.
