I've never groomed my hair in my life and have always grown it out, but I'm looking to get a decent haircut. How do I find one that'll suit me?

My hair usually grows to my shoulders until I simply get it cut, but it always looks like shit when I get that done. I want something tidier and more respectful looking. Everything I'm finding online is very hipster-esque, and the only thing I know is that I'm not looking for such a thing.

Where should I look/who should I ask for an informed recommendation? Thank you.
