TLDR: See title + what do we think will happen in the long term as a result of stifling out men’s voices? How long will it take until action is taken to encourage healthy discussion that doesn’t look to silence and ban anyone that doesn’t follow the status quo
I’m mixed race, grew up Muslim(now agnostic) surrounded by ethnic minorities in London one of the biggest cultural melting pots in the world. I grew up poor, free school meals, barely any money and I’m still in that position now. I grew up in every environment where ethnic minorities were the majority for my entire childhood, and I loved it, I LOVE diversity. I grew up saying I hated politics, so never took a solid stance but when I asked what the difference is between left wing and right wing I identified as left wing for sure.
Now I’m not so sure. I’m probably more a centrist with some liberal beliefs and some conservative. I care about those from impoverished backgrounds and don’t like inequality.
HOWEVER, this woke nonsense has gone way too far. It’s infected every TV show, ad, movies to a point where people are fed up and now rightfully speaking up. Go woke go broke. Patriarchy, cultural appropriation, misogyny(WAY overused), incels, racists, bigots, hatred for straight white men you name it, it’s gotten way out of hand. These buzzwords are being thrown around and the vast majority of the time are unjustly used as a means to invalidate an individual as a whole and thus reject EVERYTHING that person has to say regardless of how rational some of their points may be.
I’m the first to stick up for (genuine)racism, homophobia etc. Men rn in society for sure are being stifled and not given a voice. We’re encouraging women to be sluts, encouraging obesity, encouraging single motherhood etc, when the evidence is clear how much of a negative impact that has on kids. Society is currently telling men that the reason you don’t want a hoe is misogyny? You don’t want a hoe, because you hate women? You are attracted to younger women because you like power? Every man I’ve ever met, has these preferences without an ounce of hatred for women in them. We’ve gone from appreciating and celebrating our differences to now a gender war where one side is being silenced and the other praised? Like Evangeline Lily said, we’re praising masculinity in women and femininity in men. I fear this will only regress society as a whole.
I remember hearing my entire childhood for example “women are paid less for the same work” over and over again and thought wow that’s unfair. Then did my own digging after I realised I was(fairly) earning more than every woman in my different workplaces. I discovered the “gender pay gap” didn’t take into account hours worked and so many other factors I thought this is ridiculous that so many people fall for this victim narrative. I was FAIRLY contributing to the gender pay gap. There is a gender pay gap in sales jobs, and people have the audacity to claim that’s because of gender discrimination? It’s an earnings gap not a pay gap.
My father is an unattractive married fat straight white male, with no property or money to his name. Who had a man stick a cock in his mouth when he was younger. Yet society atm villanises him, and tells him to recognise his privilege. I can tell you right now, a young attractive black woman will be treated FAR more kindly and is far more privileged than my father is. Yet society will tell her she is the victim and him the perpetrator? I get there’s nuance to every individual but you get my point.
If you are in the west regardless of your race, you are privileged. We are at a time where there is less struggle than any point in human history. The patriarchy(doesn’t exist) isn’t why you’re not earning enough, racism isn’t why you’re failing. At some point we have to put our differences aside and quit silencing those we don’t agree with. Or at least encourage healthy discussion/debate without cancelling or silencing opposing viewpoints by assigning irrelevant insulting buzzwords to prove we’re morally superior.
EDIT: Posted this in the Aspergers forum twice and got banned, they mentioned the reason for the ban was the title was offensive. I looked for the same title and 6 months previous there was a post titled “Anybody else sick of incel culture”. When I confronted them of the double standard it was ignored and I was banned 😂 only backing up the point even further
