Is it a good idea to bring a girl to a social event/bar type?

I did it a few times, just keep a balance of not putting the spotlight too much on her and don't ignore her either. It's a normal social interraction. Get in, introduce her to people you know, sit down, have fun. It's not a chore unless you get in there for the sole purpose to hook her up.
