well, men are responsible for the vast majority of proposals, so it makes sense that they get most of the rejections too

i assume its because it’s both a fairly rare occurrence, and also because news outlets largely won’t report it.

Much of the media is biased by feminist attitudes, so woman who harrass, stalk, assault or kill a man for refusing her advances are characterised as something else, as women seeking justice for being deceived or betrayed.

Consider the wording of the OPs heading; 'refuses advances'. This wording is embedded in the context of strict male gender roles, assuming men are the instigators of the 'advance' while women are the subject, the potential victim. Until we change the context of the actions, by removing the strict gender role expectations, men will always be reported as more likely to kill for refusal of advances, because only men are perceived as making advances, and women are only percieved as potential victims.
