is there a way to deal with a narcissist?

Little bit of context. So I have this friend. I really like him and want to get closer to him. I want to build the friendship and yes also want him sexually.

I know him for 3 years now and the contact was on and off. About a year ago he started to flirt with me and told me that I am important to him and that kind of stuff. He started to write less with me because of his work and I told him that I kinda feel like he fucked with me. He said that he never wanted to hurt my feelings and apologizedfor not having more time for me. But nothing changed. That was the first time I started to distance me from him. The flirting began again this year like a month ago. It got really intense I was super happy because I thought I can get closer to him. He started to get a better job and owns a company now and is totaly frustrated because he thought it would be easy. He told me that he his sorry but he has to concentrate on his job and has no time for other things because he is overwhelmed with everything and can't give me 100%. This really hurt but I told gim tjat it is okay because I wanted to be supportive. But it hurt so much that I wrote him again and we had a bit of a fight. He said he knows its a fucked up situation but he can't do anything and I hsve to accept that. I endet the conversation but I told him what I want to get closer to him and that I hope he wants that to. He said he also wants to but he cant right now and if this settles a bit at work we will talk about this again.

I now I should stop this. But I want to work this out..I want to know him better and I want to know how to be around him.
