For some background, me and this girl used to be in love with each other over 10 years ago in middle and high school. We were each others first boyfriend/girlfriend. I had a major accident in high school and kind of slowly became a recluse from our mutual friends and basically started smoking weed everyday for next 5-6 years. Meanwhile I started working with my dad, started my own business and put 100% of my time into making money and slowly stopped talking to any of my friends. But she never left my mind. All the work I was doing I would justify it by saying that one day I would reconnect with her and be really successful. (Even at the time I realized this was delusional but that didn’t stop me from thinking it)

We kind of kept in touch throughout the years, wishing each other happy birthdays and whatnot. About a year and half ago I messaged her for her birthday and ended up telling her that I still have a lot of love for her and if she was ever in town I would like to take her out. She was kind and basically told me I was sweet and she would definitely call me when she was in town.

After that I didn’t hear from her until my birthday this year and I was really happy that she remembered. Fast forward to last week, she called me at 2am and I didn’t answer. I texted her asking what was up and she told me that she moved back to our hometown and she just left a bar in my area and was wondering what I was up to. I assume she was drunk.

The next day I worked up the confidence to ask her out to dinner and she said she was free Saturday for a late lunch and we made plans. We met up around 5pm at a cantina and it was really nice to see her after so long. I was hoping it would be a date and we would hang out through the night but she mentions midway that she has a boyfriend who still lived in the city she just moved back from. I was respectful of that and we continued our dinner, said our goodbyes and that was that. I texted her after telling her if she ever wanted to hang out again to let me know and she responded saying that she would.

I was really feeling like a loser after our dinner because I told her I don’t really have any friends, don’t go out much, and don’t go on dates and she seemed like she was really happy and the complete opposite of me.

Based on this info, what are you’re thoughts? Do you think she might still have some feelings for me or that she was just being nice and just wanted to catch up?
