I've been in back to back relationships from 14-28 years old. Basically, I was physically attractive enough that I never had to approach women and since you're in school through most of those ages, you're constantly surrounded by people your age. I've been in about 7 relationships through that time, each lasting 1-3 years each. After my last relationship ended, I decided I wasn't doing this anymore and just wanted to enjoy being single, and possibly meet people and hook up.

So, I've just been going out more: clubs, concerts, bars, events, anywhere you can find copious amounts of girls. I downloaded tinder and have been getting a good amount of likes/matches. Then I realized, I can't talk to girls for shit because I've been approached by girls almost all my life and never had to do anything.

My two problems are that I either go into interview mode or I am too direct and can't be bothered to care enough for anything besides getting straight to the point. My personality on the inside is more on the direct side, but I have an interview mode because I am a sales manager so I am used to just asking a lot of questions. I'm not even a flirt; my humor is dry, sarcastic, and occasionally borders on a dad joke.

I've been looking online on guides and/or scripts to just get better at talking to girls, but honestly none of them feel natural to me. Pick up lines, witty and flirtatious banter, trying to build rapport and comfort. None of these feel natural to me. If texting/tinder, my first message is always to set up a date in the near future or on the same day. I don't like texting, and prefer to engage with people in person. If in person, well I have no idea how to approach a girl besides being very direct about if she is attractive or not and introducing myself, and during conversation, engaging in a light interview mode asking FORM/Sales-y questions to get them to talk about themselves on a deeper level. Nothing I've been doing has been very effective so far.

What is the best way for me to learn how to just get better at talking to girls, but in a way that feels natural to me?
