I'm pasting here an excerpt from "The Baltimore Method", the manual my community gives its new members because I think it drives home the point about how game is more than just witty one liners and expensive clothing. Your game encompasses so much more. Game doesnt start when you open a set up, it starts WAY before you even see the set. Those mornings when you force yourself to go to the gym, when you forge meaningful friendships, when you commit to getting better. Your game is your lifestyle.
"A more expansive view of “Game”
Recently A friend of mine landed a gig house sitting for a really laid back older couple while they were out of town visiting family. They told us to make ourselves at home and even tried to prod us into using their pad for a little soiree. The house itself was magnificent if modestly sized. It was situated against the tee box on a shady link in one of the affluent gated community's six golf courses. It was fully stocked with food and alcohol not to mention all the amenities that the entertaining of guests could require. For several reasons, however, we decided against throwing an all out rager. Not the least of which is the short notice we had to throw something together. Nevertheless, one of my buddies, Steve, who'd been drawn into the orbit of my entourage at the time decided that he was going to swing by with his new paramour and a few of her friends. Steve showed up with his new girl and her 4 friends and combined with myself and our three other buddies it turned out to be a balanced but low key ensemble 5 women and 5 men.
I played host, catering to everyone's needs and rolling out the food and drink for everyone's perusal but only engaging in cursory conversation. I contented myself in tending and nurturing the social event until one of the girls confronted me. We had an interesting exchange which I think highlights some important concepts I try to drill down.
“So I hear you're some sort of player.” She said accusatorily. There was a look of amused skepticism on her face.
“Player? Lol no most definitely not.” I laughed it off but already I knew that she'd been briefed about my association with the Baltimore/D.C. PUA collective.
“I heard that you have game. Or think you have game.” She said. I could sense that she was intent on embarrassing me if she could find a way to do so.
“Who told you that?” I played coy.
“Go ahead and run your game. Let's see what you got.”
“What do you mean?”
“Run your game on me. You think you're so good let's hear it.” I could tell she was aiming to punish what was in her estimation an egotistical narcissist.
I looked around confused and then replied “Darling, I don't quite understand what you mean. You're already here aren't you? Game has already begun to be run on you.”
“What are you talking about?”
“My game started working on you before we even met. That's why you're here right now.”
“Steve invited us and that's why we came. We didn't come because of you”
“Do you think game is just a guy at a bar smooth talking a girl out of her pants? If you think that's all game entails then you've brought a checkers board to a chess game.”
And I think that exchange illustrates a very important point about the all encompassing nature of a PUA's game. The game was already started. The moment you self invested, stepped into a gym to get in shape. Game had already started. If all a guy is doing is working on pick up lines or sweet nothings to tell a girl then his game has one dimension. Steve is my boy. He's part of the strong social network that I've constructed filled with quality people that think highly of me. Good game means you're playing optimally. The more women you meet the better chance you have of hooking up with one right? So game encompasses those aspects that maximize your introductions to other women. Not just how you handle them when they are there. Game encompasses the nature and quality of that introduction so having friends that give you a ringing endorsement is also a part of someone's game. Who she sees when we are introduced is part of your game so the Self Investment you commit to before you ever meet is part of your game. Its a holistic approach. This isn't snake charming or magic tricks. There's work to be done and yes it can be arduous or tedious at times but its real, its rewarding and it provides you with actual agency over your romantic and social life. What she didn't realize was that my game extends far beyond my presence. It reaps passive rewards like stock dividends.
“Well I'm not going to sleep with you.” She said with a bit of venom in her voice.
“That's fine with me” I shrug.
“Some player you are.” She scoffed.
“I'm not a player. And if you don't want to sleep with me that's perfectly fine. I hope we can be friends though.” I reached out my hand and she shook it with a smug look of satisfaction on her face.
“I guess your game didn't work on me.”
I felt like laughing because it absolutely did. Whether or not I was going to sleep with this girl was irrelevant. You CAN NOT be fooled by single snapshots, you have to worry about the long term trend. Its the same reasoning that casinos use to make money. They may lose a hand here and there but over the long term if they play optimally they will maximize their gains. So I was confronted with a situation where I could try to “buy back in and buy back in” over and over on this girl (to continue with the gambling parlance) and potentially dig myself a deeper and deeper hole or I could co opt her as a friend girl and retain some value. You hate to see one get away but don't let it cloud your judgment. Play optimally. And the truth is that using the principles that John Nash laid out we would do better to let the girls pick us. So if this one wasn't interested then I shouldn't let it sabotage my chances with any of the other girls at the party. So I befriended her and then as the night progressed, wouldn't you know it, that girl (who was once an antagonist) was chatting me up, regaling me with a funny anecdote and, without being prompted in anyway, called her friend over to help her tell the story and BAM, that was it. Smooth introduction. I hit it off with her friend and my friendgirl helped me without even knowing it.
I'm recounting this story because I want to impress upon you the holistic nature of a man's game. Its the expansive view. Its not how many points you score in a game its how many championships you win. Thus far in the book I've described all of these aspects to a man's game that are criminally overlooked. We get caught up obsessing about funny punch lines or sexy glances or whatever but that is such a small aspect of what you are trying to do. This stuff does take effort. Going to the gym and working out is tough. But its good for you, helps your game and has rewards far beyond your romantic life. Same with your social network. The quality of your life will be enriched beyond your wildest expectations. Anyone who tells you there are voodoo style tricks or psuedoscientific hypnosis techniques that can land any girl in your lap are charlatans. If you want a rabbit you can't pull it out of a hat, you have to build a garden. And grow the vegetables they like to eat. In an area with a lot of rabbits. If you're doing it right then you'll start coming home and there will be rabbits all around waiting for you. Your game will reap benefits passively, that is without you even doing anything. Its like the interest you collect on the money you have in the bank. Its next level. Ultra Instinct Super saiyen 5 god mode status... "
