Where to start with this? You're 23, and she's 17. She's in highschool while you're either in college or the work force. You're old enough to drink and most bars wouldn't let her in the door. The two of you are worlds apart, and that's not geography. That difference is going to be less significant as you get older, but right now, it's a little much.

Plus, you're in a long distance relationship. That's not as solid as seeing each other on the ins and outs of the week. It sounds to me like you're relationship is on rather shakey ground, and Alex has nothing to do with it.

As a matter of principle, you shouldn't worry. If things don't work out, she was never really all yours to begin with. And that's not a reflection on you, that's just on her. Right now, Alex is the friend, which means either he never took his shot, or he took it and it didn't work out romantically.

Your focus need to be on you. Being the guy she chose to be with. She chose you for a reason. Learn to understand that reason and improve upon it. It's likely a positive quality that will not only keep her close to you, but will improve your other opportunities. Let other people do what they're going to do, even her, and you'll be a lot happier for it.
