In 20 years, would you rather say "I did that" or "I was too scared to do it." Just go for it man! Sit next to her. Strike up a conversation. Smile the whole time and show her that you are confident and not a win-loss guy who is going to cry if she rejects you.

Either way, move on and keep hitting on lots of girls. Build a pipeline!

Do sit beside her and immediately talk to let her know you are a sociable type of lad. If she has no friends in the class n you bring up the assignment, I'd say you have a good chance of being her partner
