Hey guys! First off, I thought about posting to askseddit, but I read some of the links there and... I don't think my post belongs here because I think I know my errors, and I also think I'm a slight step above the game there.

Now, a little about me: I live in La Belle Province, Canada (it does affect game, since every line here gets distorted due to language), I am a big guy (6' 260lbs, but not ALL of that is fat, used to work out every day for a year...), but most important, I have been browsing this subreddit for close to six months. I have natural confidence and I have my own sense of humor (I'm random, and I've been told that I'm quickwitted).

Tonight, I was invited to a long-time friend's birthday party at a restaurant, a western style restaurant with line dancing and singing. I had told my friend beforehand that if one of birthday girl's friends was cute, I'd get her number. My friend and I show up, and lo-and-behold, she is with two HBs, HB8.5 (a) and HB8 (b). I introduce myself to both, wish happy birthday to the girl, and my friend and I sit two seats over from HBs. I get to know said women through some general questions (how did you girls meet, where do you study, etc, weaving a few jokes in..) and then the rest of the people arrive, all of them people I know, which is kind of a double-sided blade, I'll get to it later.

Eventually, our black friend shows up with his gf, and when his gf gets up to go to the bathroom, I steal her seat next to B and diagonal to A. We start talking, my friend and I really into the conversation, and then we all start telling stories, laughing, etc. I joke around about the line dancing, singer, you know- the situational jokes. I start having alternating conversations with both girls when B just starts asking me questions about myself. But then, I get a text from my friend at the other side of the table saying : ''HbB told birthday girl she thinks you're cute''. Instant confidence, started seeing some IoIs.

At the beginning she was cold but she warmed up throughout the night. I know ONE error, I could've started kino when I sat down next to her, but I pussied out, didn't see an opportunity although I was aware of this. There was some accidental kino, or everytime she moved and we touched or vice-versa she didn't back away, but it was very light (brushing arms, knees). Banter continues, and my friends keep texting me, useless pressure, and she is trying to get a glimpse at my phone. I tease her about her not getting texts after SHE pointed it out, so it's not insulting (good opportunity to get number ''I'll think about texting you so you don't seem so bored, haha'' but pussied out).

At the end, I say that I have to leave, and she's like, come to the casino! I say, I can't working tomorrow morning! I end up saying that I do go to bed at 3 a.m most days and she says, aha! caught you... I still denied, but when I asked her what she was doing tuesday, she said, I go to bed at 8 p.m. I was like, wow you have one hell of a night life huh. Hind-sight, that may have been a shit test but that's one of the reasons I'm posting here right? Pussied out about asking her to coffee, BEFORE 8.

Anyways, I get up, and I tell her to get up and give me a hug. She does and says see you soon, to which I reply: Only if you give me your number smile. She agrees, and I take it down, she asks me to call her, but my phone dies while I try... I give two more girls hugs and I come back to her, she is sitting, I lean in from behind her so our heads are side to side, and I say, my phone doesn't like your number, lemme give you mine, and then you text me. So that happens, and then I walk out the place and got myself some coffee while my friend was coming outside.

Texted her: Hey, tonight was fun, er, c'étais l'fun assoir pardon :) (cause she was mad that I spoke english and I kept joking around with her about that).

Now my questions:

1) How did you think this went? This is the first time I get in-field while thinking about this stuff.

2) What do you think of the shit test thing?

3)This part is important: My friends don't know about this community, and don't know I browse this. How do I tell them I'm learning this stuff without them thinking, what the hell? haha. Also, being in front of some of my closest friends, I care more about being rejected than in front of strangers, cause I know I'll hear about it for a while, haha. What opinions do you have on gaming in the presence of close friends (childhood friends)?
