I've never really understood how can someone hit on multiple girls at clubs or parties since my experience, when it comes to the average or below average guy ( Maybe the ultra-attractive ones which were being eyed as soon as they walked in can afford to do it ), you pretty much have only one shot or several at best at succeeding in a flirting effort. Especially if you come in by yourself at clubs or bars for example without the 'social insurance' of a group of friends.
Why? because as soon as you start flirting with a few girls, or even one depending on the setting, and end up getting rejected, other women in the vicinity are going to notice that. So whenever you make a move on another one, you're going to run into several issues:
Not only are you now lacking pre-selection ( The state in which women might be more likely to find you attractive when they know that other women did, or do ), but you've now gone into the negatives, which is only going to increase exponentially when you get rejected next. I find that women, doubly more so in these sort of environments, rarely want to be the ones who took the chance on the guy who already got rejected by others.
You'll start being seen as desperate, like a beggar hopping from one mark to the next in the hopes of reciprocation.
Even if a woman is not immediately put off from interacting with you thanks to the above, your Game has now lost a fair bit of it's luster - Various compliments or attempts to establish a spark can be rendered ineffective once it becomes apparent that she wasn't exactly your first choice, I.E "Oh, is that what you said to the girl I just saw you talking with...."
The Creep Factor. This is the worst of the bunch, and it does seem to target men who don't look like they'd fit a certain stereotype more often in my opinion. So when girls see someone like Pauly D from Jersey Shore going around hitting on numerous women, it's mundane. "Oh, he's a player, that's just what these guys do.", But if it's some weird or nerdy looking guy, I've seen the reaction changing plenty of times to - "Uhhhhh...what's this creep doing prowling around and bothering women?". When that happens, merely being rejected is no longer the 'worst' that could happen to you.
Note that in extremely loud, large environments with very little light this could be less relevant, owing to the fact it's really hard to hear or see anything, or communicate in general, but only up to a point. Once you go up to like a dozen though, be it via gossip or just greater probability, a majority of people are still going to recognize you. But in the area where I'm at, it doesn't even reach that point, since the nightlife attractions tend to be smaller and more spacious/communication-oriented, and the same goes for bars and parties. You approach a single woman and pretty much anyone who is merely looking out of the corner of their eye is going to see it and a bunch of them will hear your conversation too.
Not that they'd care initially, but when you start approaching more than 1 woman, then all of the above comes into play and eventually even bystanders might get 'uncomfortable' at your presence too.
