if she's at all not-dumb, she wont fall for her ex just because he bought her a cool material thing.
please consider the possibility that she isnt interested and "i'm dating someone else" is an easy way to say "no. i dont want to go out". but theres only one way to find out and thats ask her.
about dating her: u need to be honest and straightfwd and say 'hey. im still interested. how would you feel about going out for coffee next week'. dont ask on her birthday. ask after. asking b4 is going to make her bday awkward.
gift: get her something that shows you pay attention to how she feels, her interests, etc. if u have any mutual female friends, might be a good idea to ask them for ideas. but its not an "i got you a cooler gift" competition. get her something thoughtful and give her some positive attention outside of just on her bday.

by give her positive attention outside of her bday, i worded it awkwardly. i'm sure you're not just paying attention only on that day. but she is going to be paying attn to a lot of different things on her bday. not just you. whats really complimentary is creating some quality time for you and her

Thanks. I get the gift part. She told me once that she really liked Disney characters and it reminded of her childhood. I think something from the Disney shop would be good but do you think that it would be a "friend zoned" thing to do?
