Hello,

So, yeah, basically in the title. I had to have surgery on my left shoulder recently and, 5 weeks out, I'm looking at another 5 weeks before I can even do light exercise in the gym. Before I went to get surgery I was in great climbing shape at around 155 (5'9) - about to do my next bulk (started at 140). My physique was really damn good, girls I was sleeping with loved my abs and arms/shoulders. I wasn't swole yet (that's what the next round of bulking was for) but you could tell I was in the gym multiple days a week and, with my shirt off, you could tell I scaled cliffs for fun. Working out/climbing wasn't just great for the aesthetics - it gave me mental clarity and was my way of dealing with negative emotions.

Since I haven't worked out in so long (I had to stop before the surgery) I can see my body shrinking. I've had way more success out in the field than I would have anticipated (ended up plating my previous PT) but I, myself, feel like shit. It's hard to feel alpha and have that frame when you know that you are becoming less capable with each passing day. I'm trying to up on other parts in my life - mainly my career by learning how to program - and since I have 2 steadies and an FWB I'm thinking maybe I should just give up going out for the winter. Learn CS, get better as a musician and restart approaching when I can lift again. My friends have been trying to dissuade me from that though, they say I should keep practicing regardless, but I'm not so sure.
