Not sure if this is where I should post this, but hopefully someone will take the time to answer.

My friend brought a girl he met to a Super Bowl party tonight. He was really into the game, so the rest of us (about 10 people) were making sure to include the girl in conversation.

At some point everyone started to serve themselves the food that was out, and as I got back to my seat with my sandwich I noticed my friend chowing down and his girl had nothing. She looked at me and asked how the food was. I looked at my friend, who was watching the game, and I got up and took her over and showed her the food.

When I did that, everyone got quiet, and I got the impression that the whole room thought that I was trying to make a move on his girl! I just felt bad that it was clear that my friend had no intention of even telling her where the food was.

My friend finally came over and mumbled an apology to her for not showing her the food, at which point I sat back down and allowed him to take over. But it was very awkward after that, and everyone's mood towards me seemed to change...

Did I come off as a dick?
